Slaters Schoolwear

A bit of a queue today at slaters when we went in for my daughters first high school uniform but we couldn’t have been waiting longer than five minutes. The girl that served me was very polite, efficient and extremely well mannered. We were in and out without feeling rushed and managed to have a stress free experience. Couldn’t be happier with the customer service from the girls especially when they can stay so professional and knowledgeable in such a fast paced environment. Well done girls !

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! The dreaded uniform shop, was made so easy by the fantastic staff working there. All staff were incredibly polite and knowledgable about the uniforms, and made it easy for myself! I cannot thank them enough for their service and for making this somewhat dreaded experience, one that was enjoyable. Thank you!

Good for school uniform ,the queues get long and there seems to be 2 queues but nobody tell you ...could be more organised ,and helpful .and with a smile ,I waited in line for 40mins to come out with nothing .and having to go else where ,where I was greeted with a smile,and a very helpful member of staff who got me what I needed for my child .So I shall not be going to Slaters again

100% would recommend, firstly the quality is fantastic, and secondly the service is outstanding, I had a total flap because I had ordered size too small and had to reorder a size up for my daughter, I called on a Saturday and explained that my daughter started back to school on Wednesday so would need the dress for Tuesday, they sent it out Monday morning and to my amazement I received my order on the Tuesday the day before school was back, also I did order from a different school wear shop because it was a couple of ££ cheaper and you know what I’m still waiting on my order 3 weeks later, I have now asked for a full refund. You pay for what you get and Slaters you get a lot more than you pay for! Don’t hesitate you won’t regret it! X

To quote from the slaters website ‘ We are a family run business for over 50 years’ and ‘with solid values of excellent customer service’ omg! That’s hilarious. EXCELLENT customer service? WOW!! Does your excellence include being served by an obnoxious, cocky, rude and aggressive little madam? Who talks over and interrupts you? Refuses to be helpful or patient in any kind of way? Is your excellent CS rushing people? Can’t wait to take peoples money off them with absolutely no care if uniforms fit their children, you just want to ship them in and out as quick as possible. Shame you don’t act as fast as you did with me yesterday when you have queues going around the block. So your excellent customer service ranges from serving people too fast when you’ve only got two other customers in your shop and approx 10 assistants doing nothing to a ‘can’t be bothered attitude’ when people are left waiting over 30 minutes. Your staff clearly cannot adjust themselves correctly between dealing with customers on a busy day and a quiet day. So if that’s excellent CS then you really need to go back to school. What company/college have you used to train your staff btw? With this so called excellent customer service? I would like to know because my next move is to contact them and tell them they are failing miserably. Truth is though, you don’t actually offer any formal customer service training at all and the kids working for you are just shown what to do and how to treat customers by an egocentric and unprofessional manager with no proper formal customer service training either. Therefore its not excellent. Does your excellence include being spoke to like something you’ve stepped in? Or barging in to your customers instead of using something called manners and saying ‘ excuse me’? I had to ask to be served by another assistant I was that perplexed by your assistants cocky attitude, anyone with half a brain would know that was the most sensible thing to do at that point yet this was audacious for you and your staff. Woe and sorrow for you but not every customer will put up with it. I certainly won’t. The second assistant was better and had at least some skills in customer service although I got the impression it hurt her to have to practice them. I also got a nice bruise on my arm because her hand slipped putting the items in the bag and she went in to me. Is that also your excellent CS? To injure your customers? She did apologise it was an accident but when my husband tried to tell her it wasn’t acceptable how your first assistant was being she wouldn’t have it. Apparently they are perfect and we just took everything the wrong way. Slaters staff are clearly too arrogant and superior to apologise and accept when they do wrong. So, upon leaving the shop feeling disgruntled but peacefully, despite the way we’d been treated we got to the door to go out and the manageress approached us asking us questions about how we were unhappy. Thinking ‘great someone cares’ was an immediate mistake. She didn’t. She just wanted to have a go at bullying us and telling us what to think and feel about her staff. I had heard enough drivel so I simply walked away. The cheek of her though to accost us like that. My husband stayed back trying to get through to this delusional manageress who clearly can’t see the wood for the trees and she told him this first assistant is one of her best, haha! She probably is judging by her own standards. She said she’ll defend her staff to the hilt. Excellent customer service eh? More like excellent poor management where you don’t tell staff if they’ve done something wrong because you either don’t have a spine or you act like you are all your staffs best mate. Or maybe it’s a family member? being a family run business n all. You also didn’t need to defend your staff, we was leaving and hadn’t asked to speak to you anyway as we knew instinctively it would no doubt be a waste of our time and effort. You approached us, why? Clearly because you was having an unprofessional drama about us while we were being served. Bullies!

Unfortunately Slaters is the only place that has this kind of selection of school uniform in Wigan “and they know it”!!!! Served by a horrible young girl who obviously lacks in empathy and understanding for their customer. What worried me was she was training another girl up. This is not good practice to have such an immature unprofessional member of staff training up new staff. To add to the experience the manager approach us as we were walking out the shop with a lecture justifying the shop assistance’s behaviour. Word of advice when you go in there “be ready to be treated like a criminal and called a liar by the manager!!!! Because that’s the way we felt when we left!!! Thank god it’s only ones a year!!!!!
